Review: LUX* Le Morne, Mauritius
Framed by the towering backdrop of Le Morne Brabant and fronting a long ribbon of pristine white sand, this is a place where luxury feels entirely unforced, and nature is given the freedom to breathe.
Flanked by a dramatic UNESCO World Heritage-listed mountain on one side and the crystalline waters of a protected lagoon on the other, LUX* Le Morne enjoys a glorious beachfront setting.
Sheltered on the gentler side of the bay, the resort captures the essence of Mauritius with natural textures, understated architecture, and a style of hospitality that feels refreshingly authentic. It is a resort that never shouts, yet somehow speaks volumes.
The atmosphere is peaceful yet never static. Even at full occupancy, the resort manages to maintain an air of calm and understated elegance, ensuring the warmest of welcomes.

With so many beach resorts out there, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by endless listings and glowing descriptions. At Love of Beaches, we take a more considered approach. These reviews aren’t exhaustive; they’re curated.
Each property featured on here is one we’ve either experienced first-hand or comes highly recommended through consistent, honest feedback from trusted clients, well-travelled friends, and family. These are the places we genuinely rate, recommend and return to.
You won’t find long-winded overviews or vague marketing copy. Instead, you’ll get clear, editorial-style insights that cut through the noise, covering only what truly matters: location, service, comfort, and of course, beach quality.
All properties are 4- or 5-star, and all are based on or near a beautiful beach.
Whether you're planning a luxurious escape or a peaceful retreat, consider this your streamlined, expert-backed guide to finding your perfect beach stay.
Suites are light, airy, and impeccably styled to complement their surroundings, and enjoy a fully-stocked, fully customisable Tropical Bar.
Interiors draw on a soft coastal palette, and feature white shutters, crisp linens, woven textures, and organic materials, creating a space that feels distinctly Mauritian yet universally inviting.
Families are also well catered for, with interconnecting suite options proving ideal for those travelling with children, allowing for privacy and flexibility in equal measure.
Bathrooms are generously appointed, with freestanding bathtubs and tropical showers, and well equipped with LUX* collection of bath amenities.
Lagoon-facing suites offer exceptional views and a tangible sense of tranquillity. While a few interiors show the lightest signs of age, the overall standard is high and comfort is clearly prioritised.
Dining at LUX* Le Morne is a highlight in its own right. The main buffet offers an exceptional breakfast and dinner service, with menus changing daily and a focus on fresh, vibrant flavours. Whether enjoying sunrise with warm pastries and tropical fruit, or dining beneath the stars, the quality is consistently excellent.
Foodies will relish the tasting menu at Kawaii: an intimate, elevated interpretation of Japanese cuisine.
For a more relaxed setting, The Beach restaurant serves lunch against a backdrop of uninterrupted ocean views, with soft sand underfoot.
For a truly memorable occasion, private dining under the stars can be arranged, complete with 500 hand-lit candles and a bespoke menu designed by the chef. Whether set on the beach or within the gardens, it is every bit as romantic as it sounds.
The beach here is arguably the best in Le Morne, a 600-metre stretch of powder-soft sand that meets a calm lagoon, ideal for swimming.
This part of the coast is more sheltered from the trade winds, making it a haven for sunbathers even in the breezier months of July and August.
Oversized loungers and attentive beach service only add to the experience, with plush towels and chilled water dispensers readily available.
“Service was as polished as I had hoped, with every detail thoughtfully managed.”
A stay here also means easy access to a number of signature experiences, including early-morning boat trips to encounter pods of spinner and bottlenose dolphins in their natural habitat. Departing at dawn, the journey is made even more memorable with a private skipper and the opportunity to swim alongside these remarkable creatures.
The LUX* Me Spa is a sanctuary in its own right. Nestled in lush gardens beneath the mountain backdrop, it offers yoga, meditation, fitness coaching, and treatments using the brand’s own natural products. The Orange Blooms face mist is particularly lovely, and the setting – enveloped by greenery and birdsong – creates a lasting impression.
Beyond its enviable beach and spa, LUX* Le Morne offers a wealth of activities for those who like their days to be as full (or as unhurried) as they wish. Families will appreciate the superbly run Kids’ Club, where younger guests can enjoy age-appropriate adventures while parents savour some well-earned downtime.
For those with energy to burn, the resort’s tennis courts, beach volleyball, and stand-up paddleboarding keep the active spirit alive. There are also complimentary water sports, from kayaking to snorkelling, making the calm lagoon an aquatic playground.
Whatever your pace, LUX* Le Morne makes it easy to weave moments of activity, discovery, and relaxation into your stay, ensuring that memories made here are as varied as they are vivid.
For those seeking a romantic or restorative beach escape with subtle luxury and a strong sense of place, LUX* Le Morne offers an irresistible blend of setting, service, and style. It feels unpretentious, quietly refined and wonderfully rooted. It’s the kind of resort that makes you pause, exhale, and remember why you fell in love with beach holidays in the first place.
Guests should note that the beachfront, as with all properties along Le Morne, is public, and the occasional passer-by may pause to admire the resorts standout beauty. However, the discreet and attentive resort security ensures that guests’ privacy remains undisturbed.
Editor’s
Note
From the treehouse on the beach (an idyllic spot to reserve for a sunrise breakfast or an open-air film night) to the genuinely warm service that flows through every part of the resort, this is a place that delivers quietly yet with absolute confidence. The location is exceptional: guests enjoy calm, clear waters with barely a whisper of wind, and the dramatic silhouette of Le Morne Brabant rising watchfully behind. The sun loungers and the oversized beach beanbags, were blissfully comfortable, inviting hours of relaxation beneath the sun. Service was as polished as I had hoped, with every detail thoughtfully managed.
Having fallen for LUX* Grand Baie in the north, I arrived in the south expecting echoes of the same look and feel. How wrong I was. Where Grand Baie is vibrant, buzzing, and full of energy, Le Morne is its serene counterpart, here, everything is subtle, and peaceful, whispering rather than shouting.
Dining at The Beach restaurant was a personal highlight, the food was fresh, and super-tasty. And let’s not forget Vik (the sea urchin hunter turned restaurateur) whose storytelling and deep local knowledge add another layer to the experience. It is these touches (the harmony of comfort, character, and considered luxury) that make LUX* Le Morne so distinctive.
So no, it doesn’t look or feel like LUX* Grand Baie. But what it does share is the same rare ability to leave a lasting impression, long after you leave.
Happy Travelling, Amanda
